About the magazine
What is The Glanz?
The Glanz is a design magazine rooted in European culture and its encounter with the rest of the world. We write about beauty in its many forms: places, craftsmanship, architecture, heritage and the natural world. Glanz is German for splendour — the shine a thing has when it has been made well.
What do you write about?
Destinations and travel, history and heritage, nature and wildlife, design and architecture, food and drink, craftsmanship and the objects that come out of it. Each article sits in one of these territories, and every one of them is chosen for the same reason: it holds a piece of the idea that beauty is worth taking seriously.
Where are you based?
Milan. It was, with Florence, one of the great capitals of the Renaissance, and it remains a city that makes things and argues about how they should look. That suits us.
What language do you publish in?
English.
How often do you publish?
Roughly weekly. We would rather publish one piece worth reading than four worth skimming.
Taking part
Can I send you a photograph?
Yes, and we would like you to. If you have photographed something that belongs here — a place, a detail, an object — send it through our Share your Glanz page. Selected images are featured on our social channels.
Can I suggest a subject or a place?
Please do. Artisans, workshops, buildings, valleys, dishes with a history — write to us through the contact page. We read everything, though we cannot promise to cover everything.
Do you work with brands?
Yes, selectively. Details are on our Join us page. We assess every proposal against our editorial line first: if a brand does not fit what we write about, no arrangement makes it fit.
Do you accept contributed articles?
Occasionally, from writers who know their subject first-hand. Send a short outline rather than a finished piece, and tell us why you are the right person to write it.

Can I republish your articles?
Not in full. A short quotation with a link back is welcome and needs no permission. For anything longer, ask us first.
How do you use my data?
